You Think Phantoms Are Ultra Rare?

No, the image is not PhotoShopped in any way, shape or form. Going back over some video demonstrations of Eye of Judgment, we noticed something we completely forgot about. Much talk has been about the EoJ Phantom cards and how they only appear once in a blue moon. Fans have been opening dozens of booster packs without luck of finding a single Phantom. However, we may have rediscovered a card so rare only one man on planet earth has it. I think it is safe to assume that the Yellow Rubber Duck is legendary in status.

Think back to former Sony E3 press conferences. Doesn’t the the yellow rubber duck ring a bell? It was a reluctant mascot when the PS3 was first shown and Sony, using a touch of self-deprecating humor, has incorporated the cheeky bath-tub toy into other presentations.

Eye of Judgment was no exception. When showing off the impressive technology with fierce looking creatures, the presenter laid down what looks to be the rarest card in existence. We have no idea what kind of stats this card has or the attack/defence patterns but if you could put that down on the field, you’d be a hero. Not only would it be hilarious to take out a nasty monster with the unsuspecting ducky, it would strike fear into the hearts of your opponent with a simple *squeak*.

If only we had some shred of information about the legendary card like how many there are, if it is a working card and where it ended up.

Eye of Judgment Lore

Did you know there is a back story to how the Eye of Judgment universe was started?

The EoJ universe is created when “it” bursts. What “it” is, we will never be sure but it kind of sounds like the “Big Bang” theory. After that, the world was born and the “source of all beings” placed life all over to fill up the newly created world. These diverse creatures gave the “source of all beings” the name “Supreme Being” and it stuck. “Supreme Being” grew attached to the name and sent down a son of his, Jeuno, to watch over the creatures in the world. Jeuno built a tower (Jeuno Tower) out of materials he found in the woods and everything was working out just fine.

That is until life forms conquered the lands and looked to the sky. Bioliths were constructed to fight the Supreme Being and Jeuno. Jeuno wasn’t too happy that people turned against him so he rusted all the Bioliths, with a song, and turned them into dust. One of the humans, Scion, who lead an army of Bioliths ran after seeing his army turn to dust. He eventually jumped into a volcano and burned to death.

After a crushing defeat, the world was an uneasy place to life. This is where the four sages come into being. Born of the Jeuno Tower, Deehs, Toritona, Val na Vos and Til Vorg spread out over four continents, each carrying a symbol of an element. Deehs had fire, Toritona had a water jug, Val na Vos carried a stone on his back and Til Vorg chewed a piece of grass. They established the 4 kingdoms, which were peaceful. After some time, life was getting back in order, people were following the sage’s rules and there was abundance so the sages traveled back to Jeuno Tower after making things right.

Unfortunately, humans have a short memory and they started to mess it all up again. After a number of wars and bloodshed, doing the opposite of what the sages wanted, a Biolith castle appeared from the sky and all of a sudden the once destroyed Bioliths were alive again. It couldn’t have come at a worse time because not only were the kingdoms fighting each other, they had to now fight the re-emergence of the Bioliths. Some kingdoms were crushed by the Biolith, others submitted to their might. The wood continent sent Cape Edgeworth, a wizard, to journey to the Jeuno Tower in hopes that he could defeat the Biolith scourge and bring back the sages.

There is a lot of room for expansion with the story, I’m sure that was intentional as more series of cards release. The holes in the story thus far seem like a great place to expand the universe into different paths.
