EoJ Version 1.01

12 11 2007

It seems Sony has been working hard on fixing the issues plaguing some online players recently in Eye of Judgement. They released a network update earlier today with two main fixes:

1. Improved connectivity with opponents in online mode – Many people have been having connection issues with the game, so to hear that this has been noticed and taken care of is great news.

2. Better balanced COM AI in Battle Arena Mod – What this means exactly, we aren’t sure. Perhaps the computer will become smarter (or a bit dumber in lower difficulties) so that the selected difficulty will give better competition to a wider range of players skill.

For info on how to update your game version, please check the official site. There are some steps to ensure you apply the patch correctly so read carefully.

Remember, you will not be able to play online until you have installed this update.

Happy Battling!

Eye of Judgment Network Update

9 11 2007

One of the community managers at the European PlayStation forms has spilled the beans on a network update to everyone’s favorite game — Eye of Judgment. It is still unclear if this update if just for the PAL regions or will carry over across all the territories where EoJ is released. Still, what does the update consist of?

  • Reinforcement of COM AI in Battle Arena Mode.
  • Optimization of network connection for Online Mode.

Good news for the back-end of the game because more and more issues were cropping up about connections dropping. We are not clear on what “reinforcement of COM AI” is but it SOUNDS good.

The update will hit on November 12, some places are incorrectly reporting it as Nov. 9 but the forum post has since been amended. Don’t get confused with the 12/11 part because Europe likes to keep us Yankees on our toes by switching the month and day.

Clans in Eye of Judgment?

5 11 2007

Teams, groups, clans, whatever you call them, they all basically have the same function — a bunch of people get together and play with each other against other clans. We have been noticing them pop up around the internet flying under the EoJ banner. We imagine it would be hard to keep a clan going in EoJ for a number of reasons. First, there is no way to battle 2v2, 3v3, yadda yadda. Second, there is no clan support for the card game within the game. Third, EoJ just feels like more of a solo experience because the way the rules are setup. I won’t bring out the laundry list of other reasons why.

It’s not to say that clans shouldn’t have a place in EoJ, it just seems like a flash in the pan. However, if EoJ ever gets upgrades and enough clans are around, maybe Sony will change up a few things for clan support? Hard to say at this point. If you are in a clan, how does it work? Is it just really social or are you actively seeking other clans to battle? Are there requirements? What is the experience like for EoJ?

Weekend Warriors

2 11 2007

Friday brings this week to a close and with it, our first week writing MyEyeOfJudgment. Thanks to all the readers that have made the blog already a tremendous success!

This weekend, I know that we’ll be dueling as many people as we can online to rack up my honor points. With it comes more deck building as my current custom deck is almost where I want it (I know of a card right now I need to swap out). SonicKaos is still trying to track down booster packs but he is finally zeroing in on their location.

Best of luck to all you “Judges” out there and many happy wins!

EoJ Web-Based Card Manager

1 11 2007

Have a bunch of cards just sitting in a drawer? Ever wanted access to a web-based database with all the card information? Mark van Setten is one step ahead of you. He is currently hosting a website dedicated to card management. Navigation is easy with the tabs at the top so lets see what you are able to see.

This site pretty much has it all. You can view all the card info as well as search for any stat criteria. If you sign up, you can input what kinds of cards you have and how many. He keeps track of how rare cards are between the people that register and add their decks to his database. There are even places where you can trade/post wanted adds for certain cards. What we think is the most interesting feature of the site is the inclusion of the actual card scan (sans bar code, yay!) so you can see what the artwork looks like.

The card manager is not yet complete but it’s very close to being the one stop shop for all you hard data needs for future deck building.

This is one of those essential sites for EoJ hardcore players as it offers a great deck building component. We like this site so much, we added it to the “Blog roll” links.

The PlayStation Eye Reads PSPs

29 10 2007

PSPThe big topic surrounding EoJ right now is people copying cards off printers and potentially using them in online duels, where they can get away with it and nobody is the wiser. One YouTube user posted a video that takes the shady online play to new heights… or lows depending on how you view it.

Instead of using expensive printer ink, or Crayola felt tip markers, one EoJ player wanted to see if he could get a reading off the PSP’s LCD screen. In the video, you see him with card pictures in his photo album, flipping through his cards. As soon as he places it under the Eye, voila! a Biolith appears from the Sony handheld. It’s a difficult task as you must have specific lighting for the PSP to be read by the Eye, but it can be done.

Of all the methods of cheating, this really doesn’t seem that flagrant. It’d be ultra expensive to have a PSP producing virtual images of cards, and getting the right lighting would be a nightmare while trying to get the official cards to read as well.

Check out the video for yourself and laugh/cry at the PSP EoJ card:
